This project was an interface mockup. The interface pitch is as follows:
The interface will aim to eliminate the stereotypes accociated with aging. Through an interactive interconnected graphic, users will be able to explore how values stay relatively the same as we age even though they might appear to be different externally. They will be able to see the connections between age groups, and explore contributor stories and images. Through interaction people will be able to more effectively visualize how our values have similarities both within our own lives, and within the lives of others which connects to the activity theory - people are likely to be responsive to information if they are able to explore and interact at their own pace.
The users will be walked through a series of questions to obtain knowledge about their values and demographic ages. The interface will divide into the contributed values, and a connecting diagram will be attached to each value. The connecting diagrams will display all of the images and stories submitted under a specific value. People will be able to narrow in and explore specific age groups, which will help them to better understand the process of aging and the effect it may or may not have on their values.
- Provides innovation as it will help to eliminate the stereotypes associated with aging through interaction (activity theory)
- Prolonged engagement as users are able to explore the content on multiple levels, and the interface leaves room for expansion into different topics or “questions”
- The interface is available on the Web, with the potential to expand to tablets or phone devices
- The interface leverages data from the contributing users. The interface also has the potential to partner with other external data sources including NGOs or post-secondary institutions
Completed April 2014.
